This micropore surgical paper tape is the best for basting. It’s very sticky, but does not leave adhesive behind on fabrics. It tears easily for removal, and won’t distort stitches. The adhesive will not collect on your needle. We just love this stuff. Each roll is 10 yards long; the tape is 1/2” wide.
