Turning a Patch Pocket

We all want flat, straight, beautiful turned corners. Here’s a great way to do it that’s simple and quick.

!. Sew the bottom seam. Backstitch beginning and end.

2. Fold exactly on the stitched seam.

3. Sew the side seam, backstitching beginning and end.

4. Trim exactly as shown. We need a smidge of fabric to support the turned corner, but this trim technique will remove the fabric that tends to cause a bump in the corner.

5. Slip your thumb into the pocket. Fold the corner exactly on the side seam line, and hold it in place with your forefinger. Use a firm grip and don’t let go!

6. Flip the corner to the outside.

7. Your corner should be very flat and square. If you need to, use a Mini Wood Stick or Sticky Finger to poke out the last stitch or two.

See? Easy.
